So I got a new computer the other day, and I’m really excited about it!
My old MacBook was dying a slow death, so it was time for an upgrade.
And to be honest, I felt like I was cheating on my boyfriend at first.
I’ve been a Mac user my entire adult life, so it was really weird to be using something that wasn’t a Mac.
But OMG guys, I really have to tell you that I was insanely impressed by the Dell Inspiron.
Here’s how I’m using it for blogging these days:
managing my schedule
Now that my book launch is happening, I’m busier than ever, and can’t keep my life straight. I’ve still got blog post deadlines to meet, podcast interviews to do, and I also have to remember my mom’s birthday. May is a hot crazy mess, so I’ve had to start writing things down in a planner.
The Dell Inspiron’s calendar functionality is super-easy to use, and right on your main menu, so I hit a few buttons, and it pops right up. I can easily access all my g-mail calendars too, so that’s really convenient.
Like, really…. how did people survive before calendar reminders? Were people just late to everything?!!
CREATING NOTES VIA ONENOTE
I’ve never used OneNote before, and now I’m questioning all of my previous life choices. OneNote is an AMAZING Microsoft feature, and I’m hooked. I’ll be creating notes for everything. It’s an easy platform to use, so not only am I going to use it to write down my to-do lists, I’ll also be using it to brainstorm blog post ideas.
Getting inspired with ted talks
There are days when I’m feeling totally over EVERYTHING! All I want to do is sleep! You feel me? On those days, I need a little extra motivation to keep me going, so I absolutely LOVE that there’s a TED app in Microsoft’s app store that lets me pull up Ted Talks in no time.
Taking some time to relax and Unwind
I got embarrassingly excited when I found this next app. I was jumping up and down saying “OMG THIS IS THE BEST COMPUTER EVER” and Joe was like, “Babe, what the heck’s wrong with you?” You guys! There’s a coloring book app in Microsoft’s app store that you can download totally free! (Zen Coloring Book For Adults). So that’s exactly what I did, and now I’ll be spending a lot of time unwinding here. Wine…meditation music…sounds like the perfect night. God knows us bloggers need some down time.
BEST PART OF THE DELL INSPIRON?!
Brace yourselves, people! It’s FREAKING TOUCHSCREEN! When I first got the computer, I had no idea that it was touchscreen. I was still impressed by the display and the ease of use so I thought, hey, for being a computer I’m not familiar with, it’s pretty awesome. And then one day I was showing Joe something and I pointed at the screen and I accidentally touched it. AND THEN STUFF HAPPENED! I opened up a new tab online and I was so confused! What kind of sorcery is this?!?! And then I said, “Wait…this can’t be….” And then I touched more stuff on the screen and FREAKING YES!! TOUCH SCREEN BABY!
Sorry, I’m still slightly excited about it. I’ve never had a laptop that was touchscreen too. So now I do stuff like this all the time and doodle. Just because I can!
So yeah, I’m pretty excited about my new Dell Inspiron at the moment, and I can’t wait to learn more about what I can do with it!
In the meantime, I’ve got tons of blogging to do so it’ll be with me 24-7.
Now I need a new laptop case…off to do some shopping!!!
What do you think?! Anyone else have a Dell like this? Anyone else using Microsoft? Love it? Hate it? Advice?! Let me know!
