This post is sponsored. As always, all opinions are my own.
It took me six years in the corporate world to figure out what the heck I wanted to do with my life. Six whole years of trying different jobs and feeling defeated each and every time I found myself hating them. I’m happy to say though that I’m now a social media manager/copywriter at a kick-ass advertising agency, and I finally feel like I’m on the right career path. As far as your career is concerned, there’s really no better feeling.
I wish that I had tried different things when I first started college. I wish that I had gone after opportunities that allowed me to figure out what I was passionate about a lot sooner than I did. But in my early twenties, I had one goal in mind- to get my degree in Healthcare Administration and work at a fancy hospital. So much for that!
But anyway, I came across this new program that’s being offered by Parsons design school and Teen Vogue and I immediately knew that it was something I wanted to share on the blog. Because I figured that some of you out there must be interested in pursuing a career in fashion, and I think that this would be a great place to start.
Parsons and Teen Vogue have partnered together and they’ve developed an online fashion certificate program for anyone who’s ready to follow their dreams and make a career change, but who maybe aren’t quite sure what area of the industry is the best fit for them. And when I say it’s for anyone, I mean anyone. Pre-college students, third year graduate students, heck- even people who’ve graduated and been in the workforce for several years already, this might be for you!
It’s a crash course in the fashion industry as a whole, but also allows you to explore individual aspects of the industry, learning from experienced professors and fashion industry professionals. Pretty much a dream team right here!
And in addition to the awesome Parsons faculty and Teen Vogue staff, they’ve also selected influential fashion moguls like Rebecca Minkoff to contribute to the program, creating a one-of-a-kind experience that provides students with a 360 view of the world of fashion.
It’s a fully accredited certificate from Parsons and the best part about it is that it can be achieved on your own terms and time. Can you say…studying in your pajamas?! Man that sounds so nice!
So if you’ve been flirting with the idea of pursuing a career in fashion, check out their site online, and request a syllabus if you’re interested in learning more. One of the things that I love most about this program is that it’s a certificate that won’t take you forever to complete. It’s something that you can TRY without investing tens of thousands of dollars doing so.
Tuition for the full program is $549, which just to give you an idea, the cost PER CREDIT at Harvard this year was $1,301. That’s over $3,000 PER CLASS to get a degree in a field that you may never end up pursuing. That’s just crazy to me! So for $549 you expose yourself to the fashion industry and figure out if it’s something that you may want to pursue further. It’s a no-brainer.
So check it out and let me know what you guys think! Think it’s a good idea? Wish there were more online certificates like this? Anyone here interested in fashion? I’d LOVE to know!
And remember guys, it’s NEVER too late to pursue your passions.
