My girlfriends and I have been all about fitness lately.
We’ve been spending our lunch hours at the gym, taking yoga classes, and really working on eating better.
If I can’t make it to the gym during lunch, as soon as I get home I change into some workout gear and at the very least stretch, because I need to feel like I’m doing SOMETHING active.
A few years ago, I didn’t really have to worry about what I ate, and I had energy for hours.
Today, at 25, I can barely go up a flight of stairs without feeling exhausted, and yea…that’s a problem.
I keep a gym bag packed in my car at all times so that there’s never an excuse to not workout. That being said, I obviously need to make sure I have all the workout gear I need. At the very least, I need shorts, a sports bra, socks, and sneakers. I can’t tell you how annoying it is to be in the mood to workout (FINALLY) and then not have socks. Epic failure.
I get bored really easily when I’m working out. I’m not one of those people who gets a runner’s high and can just work out for hours. Nope, not me. I need entertainment. The ideal situation is when I can catch up on my shows while I workout, but if I can’t be in front of a tv, a good book or some really upbeat music will do. Right now I’m reading It Starts With Food, and it’s awesome. So I sit down on the bike at the gym and read it. Yay for multi-tasking!
Something to pick up your hair with:
I need hair ties or a bow or pretty much anything will do as long as I can pick up my hair with it. I cannot stand to be working out with my hair in my face, so I always keep stuff in my gym bag to help with that.
Like I said, I keep my gym bag in the car so I can workout whenever I have time. 15 minutes is all I need some days, but after I workout, I usually have somewhere else I need to be. If I workout during lunch, I have to go back to work. If I workout after work, I usually have to run errands after that, so to make sure I’m not super smelly, I always keep perfume and deodorant in my bag.
After my workouts, I’m usually starving, so I keep healthy snacks in my bag to help me avoid the urge to grab a bag of Cheetos. I found these new Lorissa’s Kitchen snacks at Walmart the other day, and I’m loving them, so they’ve now been added to my gym bag essentials.
They come in three different flavors: Lorissa’s Kitchen Korean Barbecue Beef, Lorissa’s Kitchen Sweet Chili Pork, and Lorissa’s Kitchen Szechuan Peppercorn Beef.
Isn’t that packaging pretty?
Anyway, Lorissa’s Kitchen is helping us live a farm-to-table lifestyle with these super yummy, portable protein snacks. They’re perfect for a post-gym snack, and super satisfying to help fuel the rest of your day.
Lorissa’s Kitchen is high in protein, low in carbs, low in fat, has no MSG, no preservatives and is gluten free (so yea, all the good stuff).
And it’s easy to find at your local Walmart. Just head on up to the checkout counters and you’ll find them there.
One last thing…to help keep you motivated, enter the #SavvySnacking Sweepstakes below! You can win a $100 Walmart gift card to spend on Lorissa’s Kitchen products, or anything else you might need to stay healthy this Spring.
So tell me, what else is in your gym bag, and when do you find the time to workout? Adulting is SO HARD, but I guess we gotta do it!
