Thank you, Walmart, for sponsoring today’s post. As always, all opinions are my own.
During the holidays we’ve got lots of fun parties to go to.
Ugly sweater parties…secret Santa gift exchanges…so here’s one for you…how about a gift wrapping party?!
For me, this year’s all about starting traditions, so this past weekend, I did just that and had my sister over to wrap some presents. First ever gift-wrapping party!! Whoop whoop!
Now, if you’re going to throw a party during the holidays, make sure you do it right. Go big or go home, people! So here are some things to keep in mind:
Make Sure Your House Looks Pretty
If you’re having people over for any kind of holiday party, decorate your place a little! Now I know, sometimes it’s hard to find money to spend on decorations, but this year, I turned to Walmart.com for all my holiday decorations, and dude, that was a really good idea. Like these letters? Less than $10, and how cute are they?
And these goblet things…they’re part of Walmart’s Better Homes & Gardens line which I was super impressed with.
I’m also a part of the reindeer fan-club this year. Haven’t you seen how reindeer are all over the place? So yea, I got this little guy and I love him.
For the candle display, I took a plain white serving tray, put the candles on the tray (which are flameless, btw, so you don’t have to worry about burning the house down) and then I added a whole bunch of silver ornaments. Pretty, right? And super affordable.
You want to know what ELSE I loved from Walmart’s Better Homes & Gardens line?
This reindeer wax warmer and holiday cookie book! Everyone…and I mean, EVERYONE can use a holiday cookie book.
You can’t tell me those don’t look delicious.
And then I’ve got these things up…they’re my favorite decorations, because they’re decorations that Joe made as a kid. Yea, I’m sappy and sentimental like that.
Oh and that garland? Also from Walmart.
Set the Mood
This one’s also really important. You gotta set the mood! There’s no better way to wrap presents than to have holiday classics on TV like Frosty and Rudolph that I ordered from Walmart.com for $10 each.
Don’t like the movies? Fine! But at least play some holiday music! Pull out that N’SYNC Christmas Album and totally jam out! You know you want to!
Have Yummy Food
Who wants to go to a party where there’s no food? Um…not me! So when my sister came over, I made sure that we had a nice spread of yummy stuff. Healthy? No, not so much… but this was a special occasion, so I decided we could splurge a little!
Have Pretty Things To Serve The Yummy Food On
This is my first Christmas in our new house, so Joe and I both decided we needed to order some Christmas plates and serving stuff. When I found this set on Walmart.com from again, the Better Homes & Gardens collection, I was super excited! Yep, me and my reindeer obsession.
I mean, how amazing do these donuts look? And sure, I bet they’d look good just about anywhere, but don’t they look better on a plate like this? Yea, I think so.
I also got these ice cream bowls…they’re from The Pioneer Woman’s new collection at Walmart, and let me tell you, I wanted to buy ALL OF HER STUFF!
All The Gift Wrapping!
Okay, this one’s pretty obvious, but you have to have TONS of gift wrap to have a good gift wrapping party!
Yea, you gotta make your gifts look cute! And at the end of the day, I was happy to see we accomplished some something:
Only Invite Cool Peeps
It’s YOUR party, so make sure you only invite cool people that you like! I don’t get to spend as much time as I’d like with my sister since she’s busy with her new job and her new puppy and well, we also live a good 45 minutes away from each other. But now with my new place, we’ll definitely be getting together more often…this wrapping party was the first of many obligatory family gatherings that we’ll keep having.
And this guy…yea, he was invited. Because I love him…even though he absolutely hates taking selfies!
So what do you think? Did I do okay for my first wrapping (not rapping) party? I’m new to decorating so I had to start somewhere, and Walmart.com made it so easy for me to deck our new house out for the holidays! I was super surprised to see that Walmart had a whole bunch of really cute and trendy stuff, but like, the good kind of surprised! Well done, Walmart! You get props from me.
Anyway, I’d love to see how you guys decorate for the holidays! Got any decorating posts I can take a look at? Leave your links in the comments!

What a fabulous idea! It takes so much time to dragging all the items needed to wrap that I’m usually nearly exhausted before I even begin wrapping. Having a few friends to join in on the fun would make the experience even more fun. Love it!
I love the idea of a wrapping party! So fun. And who doesn’t love those movies?!
What a FUN and festive idea for a party! Love this! And yes to the flameless candles… those are no-brainers – especially during a holiday event when you dont want to burn down the place!

Oh my goodness, a gift wrapping party sounds fun! I don’t love wrapping presents but I would love to do it with my friends!
Such a great idea! I have never hosted a gift wrapping party before, but that looks like a lot of fun!
How fun!
I would’ve never thought of this. 🙂
xoxo, Jenny
This sounds like so much fun except my cat would make it impossible! He cant be in the same room with a box or roll of paper without wanting to sit on it, sooo annoying
Hahaha yes! I had to put my cat away while we did this because he would have been all over everything! 🙂
Love these tips! And this is perfect timing, because I’m actually hosting a wrapping party on Sunday. I don’t have much in the way of decorations, but I am covered in the food department!
Awesome!! Hope you guys have a fabulous time!! Thanks for stopping by!! Make sure you take lots of pictures!
I like candles that don’t have fire bc they don’t burn the house down! Love that! I’ve never had a wrapping party before, sounds like I should do that next year.
I love the idea of a gift-wrapping party! And your tips are awesome!
What a fun idea! 🙂 The only thing I would add would be the coffee to keep you going… 😉
This is an absolutely genius idea!!!
