A couple weeks ago we celebrated my mom’s 50th birthday with a fun luau themed summer pool party. We had such a great time soaking up the sun with our family and friends, so today I’m breaking down all the details from our party.
From the flamingo and pineapple decor to the Fresh From Florida produce, here’s everything that helped make that day so special.
Let’s start with the food
There’s seriously nothing better than fresh produce at a pool party, and lucky for us, Fresh From Florida sweet corn and watermelon are now in season in Florida!
On a hot Miami day, one of my favorite things to enjoy is some cold watermelon, so I loved learning that it’s in season.

Fresh From Florida tomatoes, blueberries, bell peppers, mangoes, and star fruit are also in season in Florida, so next time you’re at the grocery store, look for food, produce, and seafood with the Fresh From Florida label like this corn we picked up too.
Sweet corn is perfect for summer grilling but you can also check out a few of these Fresh From Florida corn recipes too.
BTW – Props to all the Florida Farmers for making it easy to eat fresh produce year-round! It’s very appreciated.

Anyway, back to the food. We served watermelon, pineapple, blueberries, and of course some pastelitos and croquetas because those are both staples for all our parties. I also made sure to have pink lemonade to drink because that’s my favorite thing to drink when it’s hot outside. Anyone else feel the same?
Needless to say, the food was a hit. Everyone enjoyed it – even my 17 month old toddler. Turns out, she’s a big fan of watermelon! Super happy about that!
Luau decor
There were also a few other things I bought to give the party that luau feel I was going for. Of course, I bought leis. I also bought some pineapple cups to drink from and some flamingo plates and popcorn boxes because I’m a sucker for all things flamingo.

FYI, I was 10 weeks pregnant here, living my absolute best life!
Just a bunch of fun in the sun
We spent the day listening to some kind of tropical playlist that I was totally a fan of, and catching up with the fam.

My sister’s actually moving away in just a few weeks, so it was great to spend some time together before that happens.
Days like this remind me of how lucky we’ve been to grow up in South Florida. Although I don’t love everything about Miami, I do love the weather (most of the time), and I really look forward to summer days like this. You can find Riley and I here in my mom’s pool all summer!
And that’s really it! Just a quick little recap of our first summer pool party this season! If you’re lucky enough to live in the sunshine state, now’s the prefect time to enjoy a little fun in the sun – and some delicious Fresh From Florida produce.
